Energy Saver

The U.S. Department of Energy needed a new logo for its Energy Saver program — a national consumer resource for home energy efficiency and renewable energy. The logo had to work for a wide general audience and hold up across digital and print for years to come.

Researched comparable programs to make sure the identity would stand out in the landscape. Brought rough concepts to the client early — including DOE communications staff. The final design brought together the ideas of home and technology while conveying accessibility and consumer-friendliness. Seasonal color variations for summer and winter, plus an interactive version, extended the system.

The identity launched in 2018 and is still in use. A consumer guidebook in English and Spanish was distributed nationally as part of the rollout.
